WOOD FRAME

1. The concept of the wood frame house

The wood frame house is made of wood elements specially selected for this purpose. The wooden elements are usually 145 mm by 45 mm, which guarantees the robustness of the structure. On the insulation side, the wood has natural properties reinforced by thermal insulation positioned in the thickness of the structure. The installation of an air gap between two walls also increases the insulating power of the wood frame.

2. Construction techniques

The wood frame house: this is the most common construction method in Europe. This aesthetic technique, which is easy and quick to achieve, consists in erecting a frame entirely made of wood.

Wood frame constructions also have the advantage of being shorter in the lead times. The frame panels are prefabricated and treated in the workshop, which does not create any meteorological constraints for the progress of the work.

We know that the construction of a house is an important project of life, and we have at heart to satisfy your desires, that is why our professionals are available and listen to you for the realization of this unique project.

3. Wood frame house: regulations

Since 2004, all factory-manufactured components of the wood frame kit must be CE marked. It is therefore essential to use a professional who complies with the European Technical Approval Guide (ETAG 007), which considers 7 essential criteria:

Safety
Thermal insulation
Sound insulation
Stability and mechanical strength
Hygiene and respect for health and the environment
Sustainability
The safety of using

4. Description of a wood frame house

Description of a wood frame house for information purposes (the descriptions are updated according to the project and the requests).
WALLS AND INSULATION

Frame 45/145 Spruce composed of vertical uprights, 0.60 cm spacing.
Interior slitting wall if required (beyond 9 m).
145 mm wood frame walls fixed low smooth.
Trim strip for capillary break.
Anti-rodent grid at the foot of the wall when exterior siding.
Exterior bracing panel with veil worked on wood-oriented strip panels – OSB 12 mm.
Insulation made of cellulose wadding 145 mm breathed between the studs.
Vapor barrier and interior battens.
Interior lining consisting of a 45 mm thermal acoustic insulation board made of wood wool and interior plasterboard finish.
Exterior cladding consisting of Douglas cladding, or thin frosted type cladding on 40 mm wood fiber support.

When our walls are made with the “traditional” method – 20 cm thick hollow concrete blocks, these have a double ecological insulation:

Interior in 45 mm thermal and acoustic insulation panels in wood wool.
Exterior ETICS made of wood fiber panels.

BEAMS AND ROOFS

For anti-fungus, anti-insect, and water-proof wood beams:

roof underlayment film;
attic insulation with cellulose fibre or equivalent depending on the project.

For wood-frame terrace roofs:

waterproofing by EPDM or Bi-layer Elastomer membranes;
lacquered aluminium cover;
12mm OSB panel;
cellulose wadding insulation or equivalent.

PARTITIONING

Insulated interior partitions of rock wool panels.
Pine siding.

On the construction site of a house, the work of second work comes after the shell work. These are finishing works, that is to say they do not affect the solidity of the construction but the comfort, the interior and the exterior layout of the house.
Before the second work, a building cannot be inhabited because it is not connected to electricity, not isolated and is not equipped. The second work requires the intervention of various qualified professionals such as plumbers, electricians, veneers, carpenters, tilers, painters in building...
